Gene Robinson Publically Called to Repent

We give thanks to God that an ordinary Christian has had the courage to speak-up against the wicked heretic and pervert, Gene Robinson, at a public meeting. See here.

On what basis do you suggest +Gene is wicked? - I suspect I already know why you think he is a pervert even if I believe you to be sadly mistaken.
Do you know +Gene - Have you met him? Have you listened to him? When you have - then I would be interested to hear your opinion!

Firstly, although I call him wicked and perverse, I pray in love that God may lead him to repentance and a knowledge of the truth. There is nothing more joyful than to see a man delivered from his bondage to sin. May God grant that it may be so.

Praise God that He saves the homosexual from the curse of His sin!

"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators... nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites... will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God." (1 Cor. 6:9,11,12)

Gene Robinson has perverted the God-given blessing of sex, which is a physical outworking of that union between man and woman that God created in the Garden of Eden.

He is wicked in that he persists in a heinous sin, and publically corrupts the holy Word of God.

"And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality... who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them." (Rom. 1:28,29,32)

God calls all such to repent of their sins. He also calls those who support the sexually immoral to repent as well (e.g. the letters to the seven churches in Revelation). You are nothing new.

The problem with you, I suspect, is that you do not believe God's Word, but believe that your own moral beliefs are superior to it. If so, then you set yourself as judge over God, who spoke infallibly by His Apostles and Prophets.

Timothy - I suspect the problem with me for you is that I don't agree with you! We are called to be followers of Jesus Christ and I am doing my best to be such. What I discern (and I could be mistaken) is that many within the conservative literalist camp seek to make clones not disciples. Just as the disciples were many and varied so too are those who follow Jesus.
As you will appreciate even if you do not agree we have a different hermeneutic when it comes to approaching Scripture - Is there a right or a wrong hermenutic? I do't know so I propose to continue in dialogue as did the Rabbis including of course Jesus as a Rabbi himself. If find if very sad that this literalist approach pays no heed to the context of the text or the intention of the writer - it has been called raping the text by some commentators and whle it is an uncomfortable analogy I think it is correct. Scripture does not need to be protected but rather embraced and interacted with. Freezing it in a pre-modern hermeneutic does it or the Gospel no favours!

Timothy, that is a great post. I hope that more people, like this gentleman here, will stand for the morality of the Gospel. The shouts of repent are so beautiful!

Stephen,

Firstly, Evangelicals are not clones, but we are called to be of one mind and united in the truth. God calls us to all be like Christ, but apart from that we are all different in the gifts, abilities, personalities, etc., that has given us. Again, this is mere propaganda.

Saying "A is not A" is not interpretation. It is lying.

You are ignorant (or careless) in stating that conservative Evangelicals do not interpret in the context of the rest of Scripture.

sacra Scriptura sui interpres has ever been the fundamental hermeneutic of true Christians.

Scripture's condemnation of homosexuality could not be clearer, but pseudo-liberals continue to say, "I think black is white." You not only turn your back on Scripture, but you turn your back on logic.

Following Christ means obeying His Word, you are not doing that. Your protestations will be useless when you come before His judgement throne. May God remove the scales from your eyes and the hardness from your heart to repent, believe and obey the Lord.

Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ (Matt. 7:22,23)

I pray that these feeble warnings may resonate in your ears, until you turn from your sin. God grant you grace to believe.

Joel,

What do you think? A long-haired biker is just the spitting image of me! We're just clones, I guess ;)

On a more serious note, God calls us all to repentance on a daily basis. Daily we must confess our sins and daily make war on the flesh.

I'm also sure that the long-haired biker would call you to repentance in the area of belief in the Trinity.
