Discussion about Majority/ Byzantine Priority Text

Following on from Mark's comment on my previous post, this discussion on Yahoo is worth reading.

Timothy,

Given that not many of us can sit down with our Byzantine text in corporate or private worship, are there any english translations based on it? What would Maurice Robinson use as an english translation? If he uses something based on a majority text then I assume he dosn't think it is overly crucial. Any thoughts on this?

Phil.

Phil,

As I hope you know, the NKJV is based on a version of the TR, which comes out of the Byzantine textual stream. The margins of the NKJV contain the variants found in the Hodges-Farstad version of the Majority Text (MT). It also contains the variants of the UBS/ Nestle-Aland.

So you can sit down with the Byzantine Text translated accurately into modern English. It also happens to be the second most popular translation after the NIV.

Robinson and Pierpoint did their own version of the MT, by the way.
